Baltimore, MD – November 3, 2026 - The first and second graders at Torah Institute / Yeshivas Kochav Yitzchak had a special visitor recently. Mr. Avi Ray came to the Cheder to teach the boys all about beekeeping, and it was a lesson they won't soon forget.
Mr. Ray walked the talmidim through the world of the hive. He showed them how bees live and work together, how they make honey, and what a beekeeper does to care for them. The boys listened closely, and many hands went up with questions about everything they were seeing.
The visit was one more example of the Cheder's commitment to visual learning. Seeing and experiencing a subject firsthand helps young children understand and remember it far better than hearing about it alone. For the boys, the wonders of Hashem's ...

Yashar party chairman Gadi Eisenkot has ruled out joining any government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, even if President Donald Trump personally asks him to, according to a KAN report.
"I will not sit in a government led by Netanyahu," Eisenkot said at a recent closed-door meeting, according to KAN, which cited unnamed sources.
Eisenkot said he would meet Trump if invited, but would object to American involvement in Israel's internal politics. "If Trump calls me, I will respect the president and come, but I will insist that this is an internal Israeli matter," he said.
Trump surrogates had discussed a possible unity government including both Netanyahu and Eisenkot with Israeli officials after the election.
Meanwhile, three of Netanyahu's allied parties, Shas, Reli...
Maryland’s choice of governor in today’s election could decide whether families in the state can benefit from the new Federal Scholarship Tax Credit, which begins in January 2027.
The federal program was created last year through the “Big Beautiful Bill.” Starting in January 2027, individual taxpayers can claim a tax credit of up to $1,700 a year for donations to an IRS-approved Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). Eligible families can then apply to an SGO for K-12 scholarships that can cover private school tuition, tutoring, after-school programs, classroom supplies and textbooks.
States must opt in for their families to receive SGO funds. As of Oct. 27, 31 states had opted in, according to the IRS. Maryland was not among them. The governor has until Jan. 1 ...

A 3,200-year-old Canaanite fortress in southern Israel has reopened to visitors following an extensive restoration project, offering a glimpse into the period described in the biblical Book of Judges.
The Gal’on Fortress, located in the Guvrin Forest near Kibbutz Gal On in the Judean Lowlands, was discovered during excavations in 2018 and 2019 by Israel Antiquities Authority archaeologists Dr. Saar Ganor and Dr. Itamar Weissbein. Dating to the 12th century BCE, the fortress is believed to have been built to protect local Canaanite communities from outside threats, possibly including the Philistines.
The fortress overlooked a major road connecting the coastal plain with the Judean Lowlands. At the time, the region was still under Egyptian rule, while the Israelites and Philistines w...

Iranian security chief Mohsen Rezaei issued a separate warning on X, saying that any attack would bring “devastating blows on the aggressor using new weapons.”
The warnings come as U.S. officials have reportedly urged regiona...

Benjamin Netanyahu remains Israel's prime minister following the election, but his bloc won only 53 seats, short of the 61 needed for a majority. Opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot now faces the challenge of forming a government from parties that agree on replacing Netanyahu but disagree on how to move forward.
Likud won 27 seats, while Eisenkot's Yashar party secured 21. The remaining opposition parties hold a combined 48 seats, while Arab parties won 19.
Although parties outside Netanyahu's bloc have enough seats to form a majority together, they have not agreed to work as a coalition. Several opposition leaders, including Avigdor Liberman and Naftali Bennett, have rejected relying on Arab parties to support a government.
Eisenkot could potentially form a minority governme...

IDF troops operating in the security zone in southern Lebanon found Hezbollah posters on the walls of a child's bedroom and a weapons cache in the same civilian home, the military said Sunday.
The discovery was made while soldiers of the IDF's 769th Brigade were dismantling Hezbollah terror infrastructure in the El-Khiam area, a few kilometers north of Israel's border near Metula. El-Khiam sits on high ground overlooking the Hula Valley and northern Israeli communities that were targeted by Hezbollah fire during the war.
In footage released by the IDF, posters of Hezbollah figures, including the terror group's former leader Hassan Nasrallah, can be seen hanging in the child's room. Nasrallah was eliminated in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut in September 2024. The ...
