Baltimore, MD – Aug. 27, 2026 – With great simcha, Chofetz Chaim-Adath B'nei Israel Congregation, widely known throughout Baltimore as “The Adas,” is pleased to welcome Rabbi Yisroel Meir Lebovits as Assistant Rav of the Kehillah.

Rabbi Lebovits will join the rabbinic leadership of the historic kehillah alongside its current Mora D’Asra, Rabbi Shlomo Naiman, as The Adas continues its longstanding mission of Torah, tefillah, and service to Baltimore’s Orthodox community.

The appointment adds a new chapter to the illustrious history of one of Baltimore’s longstanding kehillos. Chofetz Chaim-Adath B'nei Israel Congregation was formed around 1960 through the merger of two earlier congregations, Chofetz Chaim, founded in 1934, and Adath B'nei Israel, which dates back to 1919-1920. In 1993, the congregation moved to its current home at 5915 Park Heights Avenue, where it has continued to grow and serve generations of Baltimore families.

The Kehillah will formally welcome Rabbi Lebovits and his family on Shabbos Parshas Nitzavim-Vayelech, שבת פרשת נצבים־וילך, September 5. Shacharis will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Gala Kiddush in celebration of this special milestone.

The appointment of Rabbi Lebovits represents both a continuation of The Adas’ rich mesorah and an investment in its continued growth for the years ahead.
