The IDF killed a Hamas commander who was involved in holding 12 Israeli hostages in Gaza during the early stages of the war, including Noa Argamani, Emily Hand and Ohad Ben Ami.

Ihab Jamil Abu Taqiya, a squad commander in Hamas’s military wing, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Nuseirat area on Thursday. The hostages identified by the military were later released or had their bodies returned to Israel. Another Hamas operative, Ibrahim Gihad Muhammad Abu Oshaiba, a platoon commander, was also killed in the strike.

The IDF said both men had been involved in advancing attacks against Israeli forces and civilians and rebuilding Hamas’s military capabilities, including in recent weeks, in violation of the ceasefire. The military said it took steps to reduce the risk to civilians before carrying out the strike.

In separate operations Thursday night, the IDF and Shin Bet dismantled two Hamas weapons storage facilities in Al-Bureij and Gaza City. The facilities reportedly contained dozens of weapons and military items, including RPG launchers, explosives, rockets, rifles, grenades and ammunition.

The military also announced that four additional Hamas terrorists were killed in two strikes in southern Gaza earlier this week. Muhammad Alian Biyuk was killed in Khan Yunis on Wednesday. Three others, identified as Al-Hamam Jaber Al-Sayed Abu Labda, Mahmoud Abu Naama and Muhammad Hamad Shreiki Sultan, were killed in a separate strike in Rafah.

The IDF said those killed had been involved in attacks against Israeli forces and civilians and efforts to restore Hamas’s military capabilities. It added that precision munitions and aerial surveillance were used to reduce the risk to civilians.

IDF troops remain deployed in Gaza under Southern Command in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue operating against immediate threats, the military said.
