A 79-year-old Israeli passenger suddenly lost consciousness during an El Al flight from Israel to Bangkok, prompting flight attendants to ask whether any doctors or emergency medical personnel were aboard.

Yechiel Mintz, a United Hatzalah volunteer medic who was traveling to Thailand, immediately responded and went to assist the passenger.

As Mintz began treating the passenger, an intensive care physician from North Medical Center in Poriya who was also aboard the flight joined him.

The two medical professionals worked together to care for the passenger and stabilize his condition as the aircraft continued toward Bangkok. Their response allowed the flight to remain on its scheduled route rather than diverting to another airport for emergency medical assistance.

The passenger’s specific medical condition and the treatment administered aboard the flight were not disclosed.
